# Oil, Wine and Flour

In Bamidbar (15:4) the Torah gives the amounts of the supplemental offerings that go with sacrifice. These fall into two general categories flour and libations (i.e. wine and oil). Each sacrifice received a different amount of flour and libations.

Type of                Flour                                   Wine                    Oil

Animal

Sheep                  1 isaron                             1/4 hin                1/4 hin

Ram                     2 isaronim                        1/3 hin                1/3 hin

Young Bull         3 isaronim                        1/2 hin                1/2 hin

Give the rate of change for all of these as a percentage:

How much more flour do you have to give with a Ram than with a Sheep?

How much more flour do you have to give with a Young Bull than with a Ram?

How much more wine do you have to give with a Ram than with a Sheep?

How much more wine do you have to give with a Young Bull than with a Ram?

How much more flour do you have to give with a Ram than with a Sheep?

Amount of change (2-1) / Original Amount (1) = 1/1 = 100%

How much more flour do you have to give with a Young Bull than with a Ram?

Amount of change (3-2) / Original Amount (2) = 1/2 = 50%

How much more wine do you have to give with a Ram than with a Sheep?

Amount of change (1/3 – 1/4) / Original Amount (1/3) = (1/12) / (1/3) =25%

How much more wine do you have to give with a Young Bull than with a Ram?

Amount of change (1/2 – 1/3) / Original Amount (1/2) = (1/6) / (1/2) =33.3%
